iOS App

Datescribe

The date, time and place are on the photo

A timestamp camera for people whose photo is evidence for a job — trades, inspection, insurance claims, property. Capture as you shoot, or stamp photos you already have. Originals are not changed. No ads. No subscription.

What it does

The photo is not wrecked

📷

Stamp as you shoot

The live preview shows the stamp before you press the shutter: date, time, coordinates, and the street address when the network allows.

🖼️

Stamp photos you already took

Batch-stamp existing photos using each photo’s own capture date — never today’s date. Originals stay where they are.

🎨

The colour is the photo’s colour

Colours stay as shot, and the date and location details stay with the file. The stamp is burned in; the rest of the photo is not washed out.

📍

Place on the stamp, GPS optional

The stamp always shows the place. Capture mode can also write coordinates into the file. You can turn that off. Library mode never invents a location.

🚫

No ads. No subscription

Capture and library batching are free and unlimited. Full quality, no watermark.

🔒

Your photos stay on the phone

No account. Photos stay on the phone. The app goes online for Apple’s map service (the street address), anonymous usage counts, and feedback you choose to send.

💬

Feedback from inside the app

Send Feedback on the Stamp tab reaches us directly. Screenshots are optional, and their location data is removed before sending.

📁

Originals are not changed

Stamped copies land in a Datescribe album. A killed batch run resumes. Every failure is named.

How it works

Shoot now, or stamp what you already have

1

Open the Camera tab

Grant camera and location if you want coordinates and an address on the stamp. The live overlay is what will be burned in.

2

Or open Photos and Select

Pick photos you already took. Datescribe uses each photo’s own capture date, not today. Originals are not changed.

3

Find the copies in Datescribe

Stamped photos land in a Datescribe album. Share those. The originals stay in your library as they were.

Questions people actually ask

How to put the date on a photo

How do I put the date on a photo I already took?

Open Datescribe, go to Photos, tap Select, pick the photos, then Stamp. Each copy uses that photo’s own capture date — not today’s date. Originals are not changed. Stamped copies land in a Datescribe album.

How do I stamp the date and place as I take a photo?

Open the Camera tab. The live preview is the stamp that will be burned in. Press the shutter. A stamped copy is saved to the Datescribe album.

Does Datescribe change my original photos?

No. Originals are never modified or deleted. Stamped copies are new photos in a Datescribe album.

Is the stamp certified, tamper-proof or court-admissible?

No, and we do not claim that. The date, time and place are on the photo, and the photo is not altered otherwise. That is the honest claim.

Does Datescribe work offline?

Yes for date, time, coordinates and your custom line. The street address uses Apple’s map service and needs a network; if that fails, the stamp keeps the coordinates and continues. Anonymous usage counts are sent when a network is available, and feedback is sent only if you choose to send it.

Is Datescribe free? Are there ads or a subscription?

Yes. Capture and library batching are free and unlimited. No ads, no subscription, no watermark.
