Overview

Datescribe stamps the date, time and place onto photos on your iPhone. There is no account. Photos stay on your iPhone. Three small things go online: Apple’s map service, to turn coordinates into a street address; anonymous usage counts that help us see which features are used (see Anonymous Usage Statistics below); and feedback you choose to send us (see In-App Feedback below).

Data We Collect

Anonymous usage counts, and feedback you choose to send. Datescribe has no account. We do not receive your photos, your location or anything else in the background.

  • No account or sign-in
  • No advertising or tracking tools, and no advertising identifier
  • No crash reporting services
  • No ads
  • Anonymous usage counts, described below
  • Feedback is sent only when you choose to send it

Location

Datescribe uses your location while you are in capture mode so the stamp can show coordinates and, when the network allows, a street address. The address lookup goes to Apple’s map service only. A setting lets you choose whether capture-mode photos also keep their location inside the photo file. Library mode uses the location already on the source photo, if any — it does not read the phone’s current position for those photos.

Camera and Photo Library

The camera is used to take stamped photos. Photo Library access is used to read photos you choose to stamp and to save stamped copies as new assets. Originals are not changed or deleted.

What Datescribe Stores on the Device

Stamp templates, the selected template, the GPS-in-file preference, batch-progress for a resumable run, and the random identifier used by the feedback form (see In-App Feedback). All of that stays on the phone; only the identifier is sent, and only with feedback you choose to send.

Anonymous Usage Statistics

To learn which features are used and where things go wrong, Datescribe sends a few anonymous usage counts to a privacy-focused analytics service in the EU. Each count says only something general, such as a length range or that an export finished, together with a random code for this installation that cannot be traced back to you and is not your Apple ID or advertising identifier.

Events never contain your photos, coordinates, street addresses, filenames, location, email address or anything you type. They are not linked to your identity, not used for advertising, and not used to track you across apps or websites.

In-App Feedback

If you open Send Feedback in Datescribe’s Stamp tab and tap the Send Feedback button, Datescribe sends us:

  • your message
  • any screenshots you pick — location and other photo details are removed on your iPhone first
  • your email address, so we can reply
  • the app version, iOS version, iPhone model and language setting, which help us fix problems

A random code made on your iPhone is included only to stop the form from being abused. It is not linked to you and is not kept with your message.

The report travels over an encrypted connection to a private inbox that only the Datescribe team can read. Our hosting provider briefly handles your IP address to block abuse and does not keep the report. Nothing is sent until you tap Send Feedback.

We use feedback only to reply to you and to improve Datescribe — never for advertising — and delete it once it is no longer needed. To have your feedback deleted sooner, email [email protected] with the reference shown after sending.

Third-Party Services

Datescribe has no advertising networks or tracking services, and stamping and export happen on your iPhone. The only outside services are Apple’s map service, for the street address; an analytics service, for the anonymous usage counts described above; and our hosting and messaging providers, only to deliver feedback you choose to send.

Children’s Privacy

Datescribe does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Apart from the anonymous usage counts described above, which identify no one, the app collects nothing unless someone chooses to send feedback; if you believe a child has sent us feedback, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

If our privacy practices change, we will update this page with a new “last updated” date. Material changes will also be noted in the App Store release notes.
