Sharing rules

Last updated 11 October 2026

These rules apply to every video shared as a link from Captionry or Blurfold. You agree to them in the app before you create a link.

What share links are

In Captionry and Blurfold you can choose Share link on a video you made. The app uploads a copy of that video, up to 60 seconds long, to our servers and gives you a short link. Anyone you give the link to can watch the video in a web browser.

Each link works for 30 days. After that, the video is deleted and the link stops working. Videos are not listed, searchable or shown in any feed: only people who have the link can watch.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users

We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You may not share a video, or captions, that contain:

  • sexual content or nudity
  • violence, gore or self-harm
  • hate, harassment, threats or bullying
  • anything that sexualises or endangers children
  • illegal content
  • other people's private information, or content you do not have the right to share
  • spam or scams

Anyone who shares such content or abuses others is banned: their device can no longer create links, and all of their links are removed. We may remove any video that breaks these rules without warning. If you think we removed your video by mistake, email us and we will look at it again.

How videos are checked

Before a link works, still frames from the video are checked by an outside automated safety service. In Captionry, the caption text is checked too. A video that breaks these rules is blocked: the link never works and the video is deleted. Some videos are held for a person on our team to review first; a held video that is not approved within 24 hours is removed. If the check cannot run, the link stays off until it can.

No automatic check is perfect, so anyone can also report a video from its page.

Reporting a video

Every video page has a Report this video link. You can also email the video’s link to the app’s team: [email protected] for Captionry, [email protected] for Blurfold, or [email protected].

We act on reports within 24 hours. A video that breaks these rules is removed, and the person who shared it is banned. A report about child safety takes the video down at once while we review it, and a video reported on its page that we have not reviewed within 24 hours is taken down automatically.

Deleting your links

You can delete a link at any time in the app under My links (Captionry: Settings → My links; Blurfold: Support → My links). Delete all my links removes every link made with the app on that iPhone. A deleted link stops working at once and its video is deleted. If you no longer have the app, email us the link and we will delete it.

What we keep about links, and for how long, is explained in the Captionry privacy policy and the Blurfold privacy policy.

Changes to these rules

If these rules change, we will update this page, and the app will ask you to agree again before your next link.
